Tools This newly formed Tools section features a number of dynamic online tools which will develop new areas of information to further support the composites industry.
The aim of producing online composite tools is to provide an interactive reference area for users of numerical data, such as composite volume and weight conversions, and for users who wish to acquire more of a detailed understanding of composite processing and the ecological effects of composite manufacture.
Currently Available Tools:
Composite Calculators & Converters
5 online tools which calculate and convert weights and materials. Current tools are:
1 Resin Formula Calculator which calculates the overall density and price of a resin system;
2 Roving Linear Weight Converter which converts between commonly used units for the linear weight of a roving;
3 Material Areal Weight Converter which converts between commonly used units for the areal weight of a fabric;
4 Density Tool which converts between commonly used units for density;
5 Volume-Weight Fraction and Density Calculator which converts volume fractions to weight fractions and calculates the overall density of a composite.
Green Guide to Composites
This dynamic tool can be used by composite composites companies to understand and determine the ecological impacts of the decisions they make about materials, processes and products.
Future online tool currently in development is:
Non Destructive Evaluation (NDE) of Composites
This on-line knowledge based tool will allow end-users search for specific information and make informed decisions on the application of different NDE techniques to composite materials.
We aim to include additional tools in the near future and would welcome suggestions as to the kind of tools users would like to see listed here which could be of benefit to the composites industry.
Please contact us with any comments and suggestions.
